2010 is our 10th birthday..

We want to help you celebrate our birthday. 

Anyone who mentions our birthday will receive a present when staying at Kendenup Lodge and Cottages during 2010.

Rod and I have worked hard to achieve what we have today.  3 cottages, lodge accommodation, function centre, commercial kitchen, 2 bars, gymnasium, 2 BBQ areas, planted a few hundred trees, a bridal garden, a good reputation with a 35% referral rate from local people and those who have stayed with us.

We have been host to many weddings, corporate retreats, health retreats, and of course Christmas parties and now we are both really excited about the fact that we have made it to 10.  Some days we have both wondered what on earth we were doing building up this huge infrastructure in regional Western Australia.  Our location has proved to be a winner.  I find that many many people are now looking to 'get back to basics' and are really looking for that place of peace.

About Kendenup Lodge and Cottages

Kendenup Lodge and Cottages is set on 40 acres of natural Australian bushland overlooking the Stirling Range in Western Australia's Great Southern region.

The cottages are located just 30 minutes to both Albany and Denmark and are surrounded locally by vineyards, wineries & restaurants and of course the magnificent Stirling Range great for bushwalking and birdwatching.

We started in 1998 with a dog, a caravan, lots of building materials and red wine and a dream of being able to sit on the verandah and gaze at the Stirling Range whilst drinking the red wine and making a million dollars.

Now see what has happened! We have 3 cottages, lodge accommodation, pizza oven, gymnasium, licensed bar, 2 function centres, commercial kitchen for catering and we never sit on the verhandah and gaze at the Stirling Range but we still drink lots of red wine and still haven't made that million dollars.

But......we do have the dog!

CALENDAR 2010

January

Holiday makers from all over Australia and a lot of international travellers come to see the magnificent Stirling Range.

Our local wine industry combines with the turf club to run Grapes and Gallops.  Local wine makers sell their wines while the turf club generates great income with their special race day.

February

Well it’s back to school but that means that our visitors are those who no longer have children at home.  They come for the Stirling Range, bushwalking, mountain climbing, history and to bring friends with them and enjoy the food and wine of the area.

Tastings of Kendenup wines and food is what they enjoy.

T.A.F.E. begins their art classes here for the year.  We started with 5 students and now have 20.

Taste Great Southern has its time on the stage with food and wine experiences happening all over the region.  Kendenup Lodge is involved in Graze Mount Barker as a part of the Taste programme.

March

This is one of our wedding months throughout the year.  Our lodge is very rustic on the outside and upmarket on the inside.  This is the attraction for both country and city brides.  Our bridal garden with pond, waterfall and walkways gives that added extra for brides and their families.

This year we have the Ulyssees motor cycle club coming to the region and Kendenup Lodge is hosting an art exhibition by Charlie Colbung.  Charlie is our own internationally renown artist.  His contemporary work depicts his journey through life.

April

Easter is the very very busiest time of year and as we don’t have a minimum night stay our guests are able to experience this area without having to change travel plans already in place.  Those staying enjoy the natural Australian bushland whilst sitting in the very comfortable BBQ area  provided.  This allows for the good ‘aussie’ stories to be told, to enjoy that local bottle of red and to get to know people who they may never have met if not staying at Kendenup Lodge.

May

This month is generally a quiet time for tourists but, as usual, Kendenup Lodge staff are never left without work!  The state championships for Bridge players across the state is held here.  This means that up to 80 people from all over the state arrive for up to 5 days.  Accommodation booked, meals prepared, drinks chilled and the cards stacked they play bridge to their hearts content.

June

Yes we do get a little quieter in June except......for those wanting to get away before the end of the financial year hits.  These people stay here for the peace and quiet and to enjoy the warming and relaxing wood fires, to see the mist rolling over the Stirling Range and to sit in the spa and drink champagne before sitting down to the meal prepared by their private chef.

July

Our enquiries for corporate bookings begins to speed up for the second half of the year.  These bookings are usually for up to 30 people for up to 5 days at a time.  Our corporate facilities, accommodation, location and again the peace and quiet are the big drawcards.

August

Wedding month again.  As the sun begins to shine longer, paddocks are still green and the hope of early wildflowers our brides set themselves on their path for life.

September

This is the busiest month for wildflowers.  Visiting the Stirling Range is a must during this time and that is exactly what our visitors do.  The last weekend hails the beginning of school holidays and the visitors role in.

October

The first 2 weeks in October Kendenup Lodge is host to an exhibition for the Art SouthWA Art Trail.  We have been involved for over 5 years now and our numbers grow each year.  This exhibition single handedly  brings 100’s to the area who may not have know we even existed.

November

People are starting to think of Christmas so those who haven’t travelled during the year all make the most of getting away for some relaxing time.

Our grandchildren arrive for a weekend to spend time in the commercial kitchen making all of the Christmas goodies we like to see either on the tree or on the table on Christmas Day.  A lot of mess but even more fun!

Of course the Christmas parties start.  We bring in the local band (and they really get the place jumping!), place the chef in the kitchen, fill the cool room with drinks and organise Santa to be in the area to give out those all important pressies to the staff.

December

The accommodation bookings flow hard and fast for those wanting to be away from home for Christmas....so many of them we always have a waiting list!

New Years Eve is our wedding anniversary and generally we celebrate with our guests and friends here in the Gentlemen’s bar and so far have always said goodbye to a very busy year and always hope for an even busier year to come.

Kendenup Lodge and Cottages

(Gaststadte und Landhaus) ist bekannt fur die beste Unterkunft und personhnliche Bedienung, Rucksichtsnahme fur die Urn welt und natur fur Frieden und Ruhe fur alle Gaste in der heutigen beschaftigten Welt.

In 1998 eroffneten wir die erste selbst Bedienungs Cottage, besser genannt als Familien Cottage. In 2001 bauten wir unsere Cottage fur Genuss mit tliesendem Champagner im Sprudelbad, ein neue Direktion in diesem Gewerbe.

In 2004 fassten wit den Entscheid urn un sere Gaststadte zu bauen mit Unterhaltungssahl Gymnasium, komerzielle Kucke und Gentlemans' Bar.

Kendenup Lodge ist sehr beschaftigt mit Hochzeitsanlassen, gemeinschaftlichen Unterhaltungen fur Touristen und vorallem auch Essen mit unseren lieben Stammgasten.  Bezeichnenderweise Kendenup Lodge zieht auch sehr viele Touristen von anderen Staaten in Australien, sowie auch Internationale Gaste an. Nicht nur unser guter Service, sondern auch der schone Blick auf die Stirling Range (Alpen-Blick), welche auf der Erbe-Liste ist.

Wir bereiten uns vor fur eine sehr beschaftigte Zeit in 2008 und fur mehr Wachs turn in 2009.  Wernn sie unseren lokalen Wein und un sere Spezialitaten probieren mochten, fuhlen sie sich frei uns zu fragen (keine Kosten). Erfreuen sie sich in unserer neuen Region wahrend ihrem Aufenthalt.

Linda, Rod, Verity, Lara, Rosanna, Nicole, Nonita, Maree, Chris und Michelle freuen sich alle ihnen einen guten und unwergesslichen Aufenthalt zu schenken unserer Kendenup Lodge.
