• Castle Rock

    A 4.4 km (2 hour) relatively steep return walk to the Granite Skywalk leads from this site. Moderate to good fitness is required. The path traverses yate, marri and karri forest and takes you past the famous Balancing Rock. Flat granite slabs offer views and places to rest. Karri Lookout is a place to ponder the Porongurup Range landscape, forests and wildlife.

  • Stirling Range National Park

    Stirling Range National Park is home to one of Western Australia's highest peaks, Bluff Knoll. Take the challenge and climb Bluff Knoll, which rises more than a kilometre into the air, or go rock climbing at Ellen Peak. You'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the park and surrounding plains. Bluff Knoll is one of the few places in Western Australia where it snows - but only very occasionally!

  • Old Police Station

    Built by convicts in 1868 the Mt Barker Old Police Station Museum comprises a heritage precinct of 13 buildings of varying themes on 3.5 acres of rose & cottage gardens. Open Sundays during winter or by appointment, the fee is $5 for 12 years and over.

    One of the largest of Australia's wine regions, the Great Southern, stretches from Frankland River in the north to Albany in the south, from Denmark in the east to Mt Barker and Porongurup in the west - an area covering close to 1,000 square kilometres of some of the most picturesque and unspoilt countryside in Western Australia.

    From the first 5 acre planting of Riesling and cabernet sauvignon in 1967, the region's vineyards have grown to cover over 800 acres, with all the major grape varieties represented.
